Candace Reglin - Registered Massage Therapist

Candace Reglin, RMT

Upon graduating from the advanced 2200 hour program at Foothills College of Massage Therapy in 2007, Candace Reglin formed the belief that to experience optimal health and wellness, one needs to maintain health both inside and out. She believes the body works as an entire unit and therefore must be healed as an entire unit (mechanically and energetically).

Candace constantly challenges herself as a Massage Therapist to identify the root of a problem rather than identifying and treating individual symptoms. To ensure treatment progress Candace uses a number of different modalities in her treatment sessions which include Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy and Therapeutic, Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Sports, Post-operative and Pregnancy Massage. All of which address both acute and chronic conditions.

Because of previous life experiences and her active lifestyle, Candace is able to empathize with her Massage patients and has developed excellent communication and team skills. She feels these skills are an asset to helping her patients reach their optimal goal of health. She also possesses a natural compassion for helping those who are hurting and applies this compassion through massage therapy.

Outside of the massage world Candace loves to challenge herself at the gym and in the kitchen and enjoys cycling, camping, hiking and movies.

Is massage for me?

Almost anyone can benefit from massage. This will be best determined in one of three ways. Try a massage for a shorter session and discuss your health history with one of our therapists. They will explain everything they are doing while you are receiving a massage and ensure you feel comfortable. Secondly you could book a 5–10 minute consultation with one of our therapists or clinic director to discuss any questions or concerns. We can usually answer these so that you can make the decision which best suits your needs. Finally, ask us for names of people who have agreed to speak to anyone for a personal reference. Most of our clients would love to discuss the benefits they have received from massage therapy at Embody Wellness Centre.

Who is a qualified massage therapist?

Massage therapists are required to maintain full registration under the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada Association. This organization oversees that the required training and testing has been achieved by all practitioners. There are many educational institutions across Canada that train and graduate registered massage therapists. These institutions have varying degrees of comprehensive programs and specialty training available to their students.

Should massage be painful?

Massage is not painful and does not need to be painful. Pain is a misleading term, as it is so often thought to be a bad or negative thing. Some forms of massage require greater firmness of pressure, and this can create a strong stimulation, but once again, not injurious or painful. Pain is a matter of emotional experience that is unique to every human being. Everyone’s perception of pain is different since so much of our pain experience is uniquely related to our cultural background, level of fitness, age, state of health and history of previous injuries. All of our patients are encouraged to communicate with our therapists, providing the feedback for them to individualize their experience.

How long is a massage therapy session?

Sessions at Embody Wellness can consist of 30, 45, 60 or 90 minute sessions.

Dr. Michael Asks some important questions of interest to Calgary residents - Chiropractor Calgary Dr. Michael Asks...

Why is a "slipped disc" unlikely?
Separating each spinal vertebra is a disc. Its fibrous outer ring holds in a jelly-like material. Because of the way a disc attaches to the spinal bones above and below it, it can't actually "slip." However, a disc can bulge, tear, herniate, thin and collapse. But it can't slip.
Are chiropractors just concerned with the spine?
Our interest in the spine is because it covers the major communications conduit between your brain and your body. As a Calgary chiropractor my job is to locate areas (usually along the spine) that interfere with proper nerve communications to and from your brain. Chiropractic adjustments help restore nervous system integrity. In this way, chiropractic care can affect the function of your entire body.
